For our out of town guests, the lovely Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is 10 miles from downtown Sacramento, and is easy access. It serves all major U.S. Airlines.
For our guests with cars, the church and the restaurant on Saturday have free parking. The Kimpton Sawyer Hotel charges $40/day valet parking fee and $25/day for self parking. Additional parking options vary in availability and fees.
Getting around Sacramento is easy via ride share, making it a viable option for any travelers who don’t want to rent a car.
Around Sacramento
Downtown Sacramento, the pulsing center of the city’s business district, seamlessly blends history, culture, and modernity. This lively area is home to some of the city’s best museums, shops, and restaurants.
Visiting Old Sacramento is akin to journeying back in time. This state historic park, established in 1839, transports you to the era of the Pony Express and the gold rush.
A walk along the Old Sacramento Waterfront is a feast for the senses. This popular spot offers scenic views that perfectly capture the essence of the city.
There is no shortage of historic landmarks to explore in this district. Among the main attractions, you’ll find the Delta King, California State Railroad Museum, and the Sacramento History Museum. And don’t forget to check out the unique shops like American Legacy and Garden of Enchantment that add to the district’s charm.

Sacramento valley houses a diverse selection of wine regions that have achieved an international reputation. Often referred to as “the Napa Valley of 30 years ago,” the Sacramento region can best be described as emerging, yet thriving. Most wine tastings are free, and visitors have intimate access to the wine-making process and the winemakers—many of whom greet visitors personally. Our personal favorite is Helwig Winery in Amador County. See a list of wineries.
Turn your weekend into an extended getaway. Sacramento is a fast 1.5 hour drive from Lake Tahoe to the east and Napa Valley to the west.
